Nederland: Car and Drawer Jams

Picked up my grandson, Brandon, today who is joining me for the next leg of my journey to the border of Canada.  He can’t go with me to Alaska because Canada is restricting passage through to only Alaskan residents.  Trip to the airport was epic with road construction, traffic jam due to a semi running into a car and clean up from a car that had caught fire.   A delay of 50" which is an eternity when desperate for a pee break!  Finally reached a pullout and felt so grateful for having a potty on board!

Destination for the evening was the quirky town of Nederland to visit David and his family, another friend from Alaska.   David had been our dog handler for 2 years when Norman, my husband, and I were running the Iditarod.  He is the ultimate solo hiker and kayaker.  There is no inch of soil in the Rocky Mountain National Park or Canyon Lands that he hasn't tread on.  Highlight for Brandon was the hot tub in the chilly mountain air at 9000' under a canopy of sparkling stars.  David's house and acreage are high up on a hill with expansive Colorado wilderness views.

After a grilled salmon dinner with wine,  it was time for bed.  But.... the drawer under the bench would NOT close no matter what we did!  The 1/2" frame for my slide-in/out fridge blocked us from pulling it out and off the slide rails.  We had to torque it a bit and there were crunching sounds that weren't good.  Had bent the railing and lost a screw.  Only logical thing to do was be like Scarlett O'Hare and "think about it tomorrow."  So we carried the drawer inside the house and went to bed not having a clue if we could fix this.
